WHAT IS EFT?
Simply stated, it is an emotional version of acupuncture, except needles aren’t necessary.
Instead, you stimulate well established energy meridian points on your face and body by tapping on them with your fingertips while mentally and verbally tuning into your identified problem, followed by an acceptance phrase. The process is easy to memorize and is portable so you can do it anywhere.
When you apply EFT correctly to your issues, you bring balance to your mindandbody.
While acupuncture, acupressure and the like have been primarily focused on physical ailments, EFT stands back from this ancient process and points it directly at emotional issues. These, in turn, often provide benefits for performance and physical issues. It is dramatically different from conventional therapy practices and that is why it often works where nothing else will.
It launches Off THE EFT Discovery Statement which says…
“The Cause of all Negative Emotions is a Disruption in the Body’s Energy System.”
And because our physical pains and diseases often appear to be connected with our emotions the following statement has also shown merit…

This common sense approach draws its power from:
- Time-honored Eastern discoveries that have been around for thousands of years and
- Albert Einstein, who told us back in the 1920’s that everything (including our bodies) is composed of energy.
These ideas have been largely ignored by Western Healing Practices and that is why EFT can work where nothing else does.

In a critical review published in the American Psychological Association’s (APA) journal Review of General Psychology last year, researchers found that EFT “consistently demonstrated strong effect sizes and other positive statistical results that far exceed chance after relatively few treatment sessions.”
Other recent studies demonstrate how EFT can accomplish remarkable progress in a very short amount of time for people with a history of trauma. For example:
- A 2009 study of 16 institutionalized adolescent boys with histories of physical or psychological abuse showed substantially decreased intensity of traumatic memories after just ONE session of EFT.
- An EFT study involving 30 moderately to severely depressed college students was conducted. The depressed students were given four 90-minute EFT sessions. Students who received EFT showed significantly less depression than the control group when evaluated three weeks later.
Most recently, a study published in the Energy Psychology Journal confirmed that the benefits from EFT are the result of the tapping process and not a placebo effect. The study included 20 college students who were divided into two groups. One group did EFT while the control group received mindfulness training. Before and after the sessions, positive and negative emotions were assessed.
This included enjoyment, hope, pride, anger, anxiety, shame, hopelessness, boredom, and mindfulness. Overall, the EFT group experienced significantly greater increases in positive emotions, such as hope and enjoyment, along with greater decreases in negative emotional states like anger and shame. The study concluded that:
“No significant change was found for mindfulness. Tapping on acupoints, combined with the vocalization of self-affirming statements, appears to be an active ingredient in EFT rather than an inert placebo. The results were consistent with other published reports demonstrating EFT’s efficacy for addressing psychological conditions in students.”
